Harry P. Prudhomme, 95, of Walnut Creek, CA, passed away on August 23, 2019 at his home after a long illness. His wife and children were with him as he passed.
A native Californian, He was born in San Jose, CA, on February 11, 1924, son of George and Marguerite Prudhomme. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Virginia, and 7 of his children. He is also survived by his older sister, Eva (Prudhomme) Orton, 98, 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Harry attended St. Patrick’s Catholic School, Bellarmine High School and Santa Clara University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. During WWII he served in Europe with the US Army in the Corps of Engineers. He enjoyed a long career with PG&E and retired as President of Pacific Gas Transmission Company. A lifelong Catholic, he served as a choir member, parish council member, teacher, visitor of the sick and sacristan in the various places that he lived.
Harry was a loving husband and father of 8 children, all college educated. He loved the outdoors, camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting. He loved sports, especially golf, tennis and baseball. He was a past president of the Moraga Country Club.
On August 28th his funeral service was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Walnut Creek, where family and friends celebrated his life. In lieu of flowers, please have prayers or masses said in his honor. Donations can also be made in his name to your favorite charity.
